I thought I was the only one! My fourth gen lies idle while I still use my now almost defunct 3rd gen. It’s just so much better. I hate the sharp edges too (could never get used to them) and the problem re: the cover flow instead of volume drives me mad as well. Your comment on the two types of listener is also very true (unfortunately). Never too sure what to do with the 4th gen; i literally won’t use it so long as the old one works!
